The Dream

The Mission
To create an intentional community in Tulum, Mexico that supports personal growth and authentic living, based on a desire to be of service to all of creation.
For us personally, we are called to be part of the first wave of community members that helps “gather the tribes” in Tulum.

Welcome, Dear One! If you're new here, you may want to follow our "miracle journal" on Twitter or subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for coming by. Please visit again soon!

The Dream
In the sub-tropical jungles of southern Mexico, an intentional community is forming. People from all over the world, and from all walks of life, find themselves answering the call of their hearts: to embark upon a new kind of life. Everyone has their own unique set of reasons for coming, but we all share a desire for creating Heaven on Earth. This commitment to service and love – to the highest good for all – is what unites us. There is no formal leadership or plan in place yet; just a bunch of people arriving in Tulum on faith. If you have felt the call, you sense how this unconventional process is unfolding perfectly, one person at a time.

A large building rests within the high canopy trees of the tropical rainforest. It may or may not exist in the physical realm yet, but I can see it with my mind’s eye. With 7-11 rooms, this structure serves as a retreat center, a gathering place, and our home. Like all of the buildings in the community, it is in harmony with nature, and allows us to be completely self-sufficient and off-grid. From this location we are privileged to offer a variety of programs and services that support personal/spiritual growth; retreats, workshops and classes, spiritual tours of the sacred Mayan and Toltec sites, a B&B/homestay, and holistic energy healing.

Surrounding our home are more multi-purpose structures where other community members live and work. The sizes and styles vary according to individual needs, but everyone shares a sense of pride and joy for their dwellings. These are no cookie-cutter tract homes: they are literally everyone’s dream houses! In and around each of them grows an abundance of vibrant, organic food, and other gorgeous native plant life. Within walking distance is the crystal clear Caribbean Sea and the jungles are dotted with equally stunning cenotes (underground freshwater pools). Nearby the 1.3 million acre biosphere reserve teems with wildlife and awaits our careful exploration. The calls of birds, monkeys, and happy people fill the air.

In this environment, community members are free to spend their time following their joy. Everyone discovers their own path to wholeness and fulfillment, but some themes do emerge; eclectic spirituality, healing arts, stewardship of the land and animals, integrative education for youth and adults, music, movement arts, applied sciences and technology, organic gardening, high-vibration plant-based foods, and local culture. All the service needs of the community are met by the members themselves, as each of us brings our unique skills to share. Instead of “jobs” or “careers”, people follow their “calling”. The love of one’s activities erases the lines between “work” and “play”, so that a continual sense of joyful purpose is enjoyed by all. The stress of clocks and calendars is replaced by an inner timekeeping that also helps us live authentically: we let our hearts decide when to begin and conclude projects.

Our lives intertwine organically, but this may look different for everyone. Sometimes we eat, learn, play, or undertake other projects together. At other times, solitude is preferred, and that choice is also recognized as a healthy part of community-focused life. As with all successful ventures, this intentional community flourishes because of the vision, faith, and dedication of the members. This is our strength, and it guides us gracefully through every possible “what if” scenario. No matter what we encounter, we approach it with love and a win-win mentality, and come out the other side stronger and more whole.

Tulum Mexico

Sounds good. What are the next steps?
Our journey is scheduled to bring us to Tulum on November 20, 2009, via ship. We will be visiting properties, seeing what community already exists, acclimating to life in Mexico, and blogging the whole process. We intend to find a pre-existing green home & retreat center located on a lot of land that is surrounded by other lots for sale. If that does not manifest, we will build our own! We lead by example and through our website we intend to show potential community members worldwide what this way of life can look like.

How do I get involved?
You can join us in this dream in any way that you feel called! Anyone who is interested is encouraged to first come for a visit to explore all their options. (Those who feel passionately called are welcome to follow our “drop everything and move to Tulum” approach :) The rest is up to you. Want to be a part of the first wave and help us select the property? Get in touch ASAP and let us know your awesome ideas. Interested, but still need a few months to complete the current chapter in your life? Just come when you’re ready. Got a complimentary idea that you’re itching to start right this minute? Get on it! We’d love to hear about it, but please don’t wait for us!

Lots more info coming soon after we arrive in Mexico!

Mexico, huh? This sounds like exactly what I have been seeking, but was thinking in terms of United States. Keep me posted, tho, who knows?!?!?!

Hey, sounds great. I´m looking for community and cooperation in the fields of healing arts. I mostly do bodywork, have a vision of a holistic setting involving working in groups, i.e. groups of “patients” and groups of “therapists”. That is working together in groups, allowing people to explore their inner worlds and find the way of their own heart (which will involve healing).

I have quite a bit of experience in timber-framing and would love to contribute this knowledge to the building of a communitiy (and it´s physical structures). Mostly in the way of teaching, as this (and holistic healing) is, what I´m called to do at this time of my life.

I want to live in a community full of love and acceptance, acceptance of one another as well as acceptance of conflicts that arise between human beings and the willingness to go through it and come out the other side with a feeling of more understanding and more connectedness.

    Have wonderful times
    Nils
